Jesstober Week 2: Patchwork, Chickens & Trinkets 🐔✨

Hello, lovely creatives! Week 2 of Jesstober is here, and I'm catching up with you after the most wonderful whirlwind – we've officially adopted our rescue greyhound, Soup! 🐕💚

Life has been beautifully chaotic with our new family member settling in, but I couldn't wait to share this week's prompts and illustrations with you. Let's dive into Week 2!

Week 2 Prompts: Patchwork, Chickens & Trinkets

This week's prompts brought out so much joy and nostalgia. Here's how I interpreted them:

Patchwork + Chickens (Combined!)

I merged these two prompts into one cosy illustration featuring the most adorable patchwork grid filled with chickens, flowers, apples, and all things farm-fresh! The colour palette of soft pinks, sage greens, and warm neutrals gives it that cottagecore charm I absolutely love.

There are gingham patterns, a sweet little pig peeking out, ducks, mushrooms, bunting, and of course – chickens in various poses looking absolutely delightful. It's like a quilted countryside dream come to life, and it was so much fun combining the textures and elements into one cohesive piece.

Trinkets

This one is honestly my favourite so far! 💛

I drew a collection of the cutest trinkets scattered across a gridded background – a chubby cat in a beret, a strawberry-hooded character, buttons, beads, a bunny in overalls, candy, a heart-shaped necklace, and so many tiny treasures. The yellow colour scheme makes it feel warm and nostalgic, like opening a box of childhood keepsakes.

There's something magical about trinkets – each one tells a story, sparks a memory, or simply brings a smile. This illustration captures that feeling of collecting little bits of happy wherever you go.

Meet Soup! 🐕💚

In between drawing chickens and trinkets, we officially welcomed Soup into our family! Our rescue greyhound has completely stolen our hearts, and we're absolutely obsessed with her gentle, goofy personality.

Adopting Soup has been one of the best decisions we've made, and she's already inspiring so much creativity (as you saw in Week 1's fruit-costumed greyhounds!). Expect more pup cameos in future illustrations! 🍓🐕
